Welcome to LooksArt, developed and operated by ShenZhen ZhiLin Co., Ltd. ("we," "us," or "our"). We built this App to give you powerful AI photo generation tools and a massive, ever-growing library of creative templates.
We know that uploading your personal photos requires a high level of trust. That’s why we’ve thrown away the traditional, confusing legal jargon. Instead, this Privacy Policy is designed to explain comprehensively exactly how our App works, what data we collect, where your data goes, how we protect your statutory rights, and how we keep our community safe.
By downloading, accessing, or using our App, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection and use of your personal information as described in this Policy.
1. Photos & Face Data
Because our App is fundamentally an AI Photo Generator, your images are the most sensitive data we handle. We hold ourselves to the strictest standards regarding your facial data.
- What We Collect: To use our AI templates, you must grant us permission to access your device's camera or photo library. When you upload a photo, we analyze and extract facial contours, topological data, and key facial features (collectively, "Face Data"). We also temporarily process the image file itself.
- The Sole Purpose: We process your Face Data for one reason only: to blend your likeness with our AI templates and generate the specific artistic photos, avatars, or visual effects you have requested.
- Third-Party AI Processors: We do not build all our AI from scratch. To provide lightning-fast and high-quality results, we securely transmit your photos and Face Data to trusted, industry-leading cloud AI rendering partners (such as Google Cloud, OpenAI).
- Strict Prohibition on AI Training: We enforce rigorous Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with these third-party partners. We DO NOT use your personal photos or Face Data to train, fine-tune, or improve our own or third-party foundational AI models. Your data is used exclusively to fulfill your specific generation request and is then discarded.
- Retention & Automatic Deletion: We are not in the business of building a database of our users' faces. Once your AI avatar or photo is generated and delivered to your device, the original uploaded photo and the extracted Face Data are automatically and permanently deleted from our active cloud servers within 48 hours.
- The Red Line (No Identification): We NEVER use your Face Data to personally identify you, track you across the internet, or sell it to data brokers or advertisers. We do not use your Face Data for biometric authentication (such as Apple's Face ID) or security bypass purposes.
2. Content & Safety Rules
AI is a highly powerful tool, and we have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure it is used ethically. Apple requires strict User-Generated Content (UGC) policies, and we enforce them actively.
When you use our App to generate, save, or share content, you agree to play by our safety rules. We utilize automated moderation tools and human review (when reported) to ensure our platform is not used for harm.
- Prohibited Prompts & Uploads: You are strictly forbidden from uploading images or generating content that depicts explicit sexual content, nudity, child exploitation, self-harm, extreme violence, or hate speech targeting any protected group.
- No Deepfakes or Deception: Using our App to impersonate public figures, deceive the public, create non-consensual deepfakes, or infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, or publicity rights of third parties is strictly prohibited.
- Reporting & Blocking: If our App features community sharing, we provide an in-app mechanism for you to flag inappropriate content and block abusive users. We review all reports within 24 hours.
- Enforcement Actions: We reserve the right to proactively block certain text prompts or image uploads, suspend or permanently ban your account, and report illegal activities to the relevant law enforcement authorities without prior notice.
3. App Operations & Data Transfers
Beyond your photos, we collect necessary background data to give you a seamless experience, manage your account, and fix bugs.
- Account Data: If you choose to register an account with us (e.g., via Email, Sign in with Apple, or Google), we collect your email address, chosen username, and a unique user ID.
- Technical & Usage Data: We automatically collect diagnostic and operational data when you open the App. This includes your IP address, device model, operating system (iOS version), language settings, time zone, App crash logs, and data on how you interact with the App (e.g., which templates you click on most often). This helps our engineers optimize performance and design better templates.
- Subscription & Payments (IAP): If you unlock our premium templates or subscribe to our Pro features, your financial transactions are processed entirely by Apple’s secure App Store billing system. We only receive an anonymous purchase token confirming your subscription status and expiration date. We never collect, process, or store your credit card or bank details.
- Global Server Infrastructure: Providing high-end AI rendering requires massive computing power. Consequently, your data may be securely transferred to, stored, and processed on cloud servers located outside of your home country (typically in the United States or the European Union). By using the App, you consent to this global infrastructure. We implement Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data is legally protected across borders.
4. Advertising, Marketing & App Tracking (ATT)
Here is how we fund our App, measure our marketing campaigns, and respect your iOS tracking choices.
- Third-Party Marketing SDKs: To understand how users find our App and to measure the success of our advertising campaigns, we integrate third-party marketing and analytics tools, specifically the Facebook (Meta) SDK.
- What Data is Shared: If permitted by your device settings, these SDKs may collect your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA), IP address, and specific "App Events" (such as when you install the App, complete a purchase, or launch the App). This helps us serve more relevant ads to you on platforms like Facebook or Instagram and analyze our ad performance.
- Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT): We strictly adhere to Apple’s privacy frameworks. Before we collect or share your IDFA with the Facebook SDK for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising, Apple will prompt you for permission with a pop-up.
- If You Tap "Ask App Not to Track": We will strictly honor your choice. We will NOT share your IDFA with Facebook or any other third-party ad networks. Your app events will be anonymized or aggregated, and you will not receive targeted ads based on your activity across other companies' apps and websites.
- CCPA/CPRA Compliance: Sharing data with Facebook for targeted advertising may be considered a "share" or "sale" under California law. By declining the iOS ATT prompt, you are effectively opting out of this "sale/share."
5. Security & Children's Privacy
Your trust is our most valuable asset. Security is built into the very foundation of our App's architecture.
- Data Security Measures: Your photos, Face Data, and personal information are encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS 1.2+). Data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest (AES-256). We employ strict Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC), meaning our staff cannot arbitrarily browse your uploaded or generated photos. While no internet transmission is 100% bulletproof, we continuously update our security posture to mitigate risks.
- Protecting Minors: Our highly realistic AI tools are not designed for, nor directed at, children. You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use this App. We intentionally do not collect or solicit personal data from anyone under these age limits. If you are a parent or guardian and discover your child has used our App and provided personal data without your consent, please contact us immediately. We will promptly purge their data and delete the associated account.
6. Your Privacy Rights
You own your data. We provide you with the tools to control it, fully complying with global privacy frameworks including the GDPR (Europe) and the CCPA/CPRA (California).
Depending on your jurisdiction, you possess specific legal rights regarding your personal information:
- The Right to Delete (Erasure): You do not need to jump through hoops to leave. You can instantly wipe your data by navigating to [Me > Account > Delete Account] directly inside the App. This action irrevocably severs your connection to our servers and deletes your account profile.
- The Right to Access & Know: You have the right to request a copy of the specific pieces of personal data we hold about you, as well as the categories of sources from which we collected it.
- The Right to Correct (Rectification): You can update your account information directly in the App or ask us to fix inaccurate data.
- The Right to Opt-Out of "Sales" or "Sharing": We do not sell your personal data for monetary value. However, sharing data for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered a "sale/share" under California law. You can opt out of this entirely by declining the iOS ATT tracking prompt upon installing the App.
- Non-Discrimination: We will never deny you goods or services, or charge you a different price, for exercising your privacy rights.

7. Updates & Contact Info
Privacy is an ongoing conversation. We won't hide our contact info or policy changes in fine print.
- Policy Updates: As AI regulations evolve, new laws are passed, and we add new features (like new AI engines or video capabilities), this Privacy Policy will be updated. If we make material changes that significantly affect how we process your Face Data or your fundamental rights, we will alert you via an in-app pop-up or push notification before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will always reflect the latest active version.
